Gabbro

Granite

A single visible surface outcrop represents a 3 km long and 100-300 m wide gabbro dyke. This single outcrop, estimated at over 10 million tons, represents only a small part of the overall resource.

Commitment to Environment

Major quarry has prepared an Environment Management Plan (EMP) , a long-term plan for managing all the identified potential health, safety and environmental risks/ impacts associated with the proposed operations of the quarry. This EMP has been approved as part of the issuance of a Mining Permit by the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC).
A granite formation over 40 meters high is estimated, on a preliminary basis, to contain over twenty-five million (25M) tons of recoverable material.

About Guyana

The only English speaking country in South America, Guyana lies on the Northeast coast bordered by Brazil, Suriname and Venezuela. Guyana has a landmass of 83,000 square miles with a small population  of 783.6 thousand. It is anticipated that the economy will be transformed into a regional growth engine due to the commercialization of the world-class Liza oil field discovery. As a result of these economic tailwinds, the domestic demand for aggregates for infrastructure and construction projects is expected to grow significantly in the near to medium term.
